Summary of Mesopotamian Civilization:
Mesopotamian civilization (Wiki) gave us many breakthroughs in form of agriculture, trade and writing. The 1st women farmer who made the discovery of farming, made the mass production of wheat possible. The concept of villages and tamed animals for the aggregation purpose and new ways of farming were developed due to this breakthrough.
In Mesopotamia, flood was the real enemy and the deities who ruled the water, Nin-Girsu and Tiamat were feared as the nature of these forces was often evil. The Mesopotamians had to deal with floods, droughts, storms, dust, heat, disease and death.

In Sumner and later Mesopotamia, tasks of fighting the Euphrates required a complex social organization to deal with the local needs. Only communal labor was able to build and maintain subsidiary canals fir irrigation and drainage. Constant work was required to keep the canals free of silt and salt deposits to maintain it during the flood times and drought periods.
Writing was also an important factor that was introduced in Mesopotamian civilization.
Religious school of thoughts wary from one local to larger Sumerian. Each local area worshiped the local god recognizing the existence of the other local gods. Thus that makes Mesopotamia a pantheon of gods.
Beginning of a new era, 1st trader, who traded the element of tin, laid the discovery of a new element bronze which was later used in Kevlar and shields. He also introduced the concept of international trade and clay tablets for writing letters.
Egyptian Civilization
Egyptian civilization contributes in many aspects of our modern society. From the birth of architecture and the world’s first engineer to the art of warfare, world’s first recorded battle and the invention of the Egyptian chariots.
Farming was another important factor of the Egyptian civilization. However, Egyptian civilization lacks in urbanization due to the ease in farming as their agriculture lands were besides the river of Nile, small markets were sufficient to fulfill the needs of the countryside.
Egyptian community contained artisans, shopkeepers, priests of the local temples and pharaoh’s agents but they never developed a large scale industry neither they educated themselves with the study of commerce.
The religious factor was a bit different; the Egyptian peasant was an Egyptian and was a subject of the pharaoh but never a citizen.
Difference between Mesopotamian and Egyptian Civilization
If we compare Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilization both civilizations has their own importance and contribution for the current human civilization.
However, there are number of differences between both civilizations:
- Mesopotamians had to face hard times due to floods and extreme weather conditions where as Egyptians enjoyed an ease in faming due to the river Nile.
- Mesopotamians laid the possibility of international trade and connecting the people worldwide however Egyptians were self centered and they didn’t work on urbanization.
- Mesopotamians expanded their land and production however Egyptians remained with small markets that fulfilled their needs.
- Mesopotamians had many gods however in Egyptian civilization that was only the subject of pharaohs not the citizens.
